What is more luxurious than art that is organic, hand-crafted and inspired by nature? That is especially true when wood is transformed into sculpture by award-winning artist and designer, Michael Olshefski of Primal Modern.
For Michael, every piece of wood has a story. His job is to capture the tree’s life-cycle, listen and honor what it is telling him. Redwood, Hackberry or Maple may have taken years to age. For him, these powerful survivors are more than decoration, they are a mediation with the power to transform, heal and enhance home and everyday life. Michael uses only reclaimed or salvaged wood, stating “What Earth gives us, I give back in the form of the ultimate luxury: handmade functional and decorative art.”
Already in the hands of private art collectors, Michael’s artwork is also now the first to be showcased in the Functional Art category in BLINK. Please see his page under Functional Art to witness his versatility and passion for design, precision craftsmanship, and beauty through nature.
