Stephen Galloway creates public and privately commissioned artworks as well as maintaining a thriving art studio practice. His work is in the collections of the Berkeley Art Museum, San Jose Museum of Art, the Nevada Museum of Art, the San Francisco Arts Commission and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, as well as corporate, healthcare, hospitality and individual collections.
His studio photographs are elaborate tableaux of natural materials created for the camera. This same sense of invention is at work in his public artworks and commissions that speak of a place but are not direct depictions. These commissioned works use a variety of approaches and material, ranging from lightboxes to glass, to create durable, bespoke works of art that integrate into the architecture and design of the site.
