Through Catherine's paintings she has become attentive to the splendid drama of her everyday world; the passing of light through the day, the movement or stillness of water, or subtle shifts in seasonal color.
Recently her focus has revolved around urban scenes, specifically trains. These paintings lend themselves to dynamic compositions, but more importantly, Catherine has discovered that this subject matter conveys emotion. These paintings can be a metaphor for life. They can be playful or may evoke feelings of nostalgia and loneliness, but most compelling is the sense hope.
